Lighting

 Lighting:

Lighting is a vital part of the film making process. Not only does it create a well exposed image, but also emphasizes the tone and mood based on how and what kind of lighting is used. It can create a visual mood, atmosphere, and a sense of meaning for the audience.

Shown above is low lighting. This will be an integral feature of our film. The low lighting creates visual tone and ambience and sets a naturally eerie or suspenseful mood which is exactly what we need during the bully scenes of our film.

Above is an image of 3-point lighting. We will use this method of lighting during the bedroom scene, which will give the shot its general exposure to stand out in the film opening. Through this method of lighting it will also allow for shadows/silhouettes to be shown from certain angles which will aid in the dimension and the depth of the scene. In order to carry this out successfully, we will be using the lighting kits, as well as a lamp for a much more evasive key light.

The above image displays mood lighting. Mood lighting will be used throughout our film opening, as it aids in and creates the effect of an eerie, suspenseful mood/tone. Through mood lighting, we are able to convey and reinforce the meaningful shots in our film.

Experience:

All four members of our 'Sensational Studios' had their first opportunity to use the lighting equipment available to us. In this experience we were educated on all the health and safety procedures around using the lighting equipment, the most important of these being how hot the lights get when being used. We will therefore be extremely cautious when using the gels to ensure the ultimate safety and protection of our equipment and our cast/ team members.
